Question from KRK, a student:

amrutha thinks of a number, multiplies it by 5 & 6, divides the result by 3
and takes away the number first thought of to get an answer 36. find out
the number

Hi,

If you multiply the original number by 5 and then by 6 you are multiplying by $5 \times 6 = 30.$ If you then divide by 3 you have 10 times the original number. If you then subtract the original number you have 9 times the original number. This result is 36 so what is the original number?

Make sure you verify your answer.
