Question from Tiffany, a student:

the cross section of drain is a rectangle 30 cm wide. If water 3.5 cm deep flows through the drain at a rate of 22 cm/s, how many litres of water will flow through in one minute?

Hi Tiffany,

Think about the water that flows through the drain in 1 minute. It will form a rectangular prism that is 30 cm wide and 3.5 cm deep. The water has flowed at 22cm/s for 60 seconds. How ling will the prism be? What is its volume in cubic centimeters? What is its volume in litres?
