Question from Corey:

if i travel 2 miles in 10 seconds, how fast am i travelling please

Hi Corey,

You didn't say what units you want to use to measure the speed. If you travel 2 miles in 10 seconds then you travel 1 miles in 5 seconds so you might say your speed is "5 seconds per mile". Usually we express speed in distance travelled per unit time so that would be

\[\frac{\mbox{ 1 mile}}{\mbox{ 5 seconds}}\]

or

\[\frac15 \frac{\mbox{ miles}}{\mbox{ second}}.\]
