Question from Liezel:

what is the answer of this problem, If Catherine and Molly has 320 pesos altogether, Molly and Tom have 360 in all . Tom and Catherine have 240 pesos altogether. How much does each of them have?

Hi Liezel,

Suppose that Catherine has $C$ pesos, Molly has $M$ pesos and Tom has $T$ pesos. Since Catherine and Molly have a total of 320 pesos

\[C + M = 320.\]

What other two equations do you have? Solve the three equations for $C, M$ and $T.$
