Question from Shambhavi, a student:

A long wire of some length is cut into small pieces of 216 cm leaves a small piece of length of 89 cm of this part were cut into equal pieces each of 18 cm the length of the left over wire would be

Hi,

If you send us a question you need to make sure the wording is correct. From your wording I am not sure if you are to cut the entire wire into 18 cm lengths or just the 89 cm that remain. In this case it doesn't matter since 216 is divisible by 18 so if you cut the entire wire into 18 cm lengths you will at some point have a piece of length 89 cm remaining. You can complete the problem ny noting that $18 \times 5 = 90.$

I hope this helps,
Penny
