Question from Ted, a student:

Recipe calls for 3 1/2 c of sugar & 4 c of water. I only have 3c of sugar how much water do I use

Hi Ted,

Think about measuring the sugar in half cup amounts. The recipe calls for 7 half cups and you only have 6. You have six sevenths of the amount of sugar needed, thus you need six sevenths of the water called for. What is six sevenths of 4 cups of water?
