Question from Ysa, a student:

If the measure of an angle is twice the measure of its complement, what is the measure of the angle?

Hi Ysa,

The measure of an angle and the measure of its complement add to $90^{o}.$ Look at our answer to an earlier question to see why complement has this meaning.

Let the measure of your angle be $x^{o}.$ What is the measure of its complement? Use the fact that "the measure of your angle is twice the measure of its complement" to develop an equation for $x.$ Solve for $x.$

Make sure you check your answer. Is the measure of the angle you found twice the measure of its complement?
