Question from Dave:

How do I convert: 1 foot wide x 15 inches high x 19 inches deep

We are trying to figure out how to convert the linear footage into cubic footage the above are the figures represent just 1 linear feet of several thousand

Any thing helps,

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hi Dave,

Since you want the result in cubic feet it is easiest to express the dimensions in feet. There are 12 inches in a foot so 15 inches is $\large \frac{15}{12}$ feet and 19 inches is $\large \frac{19}{12}$ feet. Thus your "box shaped" region is 1 foot by $\large \frac{15}{12}$ feet by $\large \frac{19}{12}$ feet. The volume of a box is the length times the width times the depth so your volume is

\[1 \times \frac{15}{12} \times \frac{19}{12} = 1.98 \mbox{ cubic feet.}\]

I hope this helps,
Penny
