Question from Makenzy:

four years ago, terry was two-thirds as old as nia. now terry is three-fourths as old as nia. how old is each now

Hi,

Suppose that 4 years ago Terry was $t$ years old and Nia was $n$ years old. Since, at that time Terry was two-thirds as old as Nia,

\[t = \frac23 n.\]

How old is Terry now? How old is Nia now? Now Terry is three-fourths as old as Nia. Use this to find a second equation relating $t$ and $n.$

Solve for $t$ and $n.$
