Question from Swetha:

In 2*2 square ABCD, E is the mid point of the side AD. F is a point in BE. CF is perpendicular to BE. Find the area of the quadrilateral CDEF

Hi,

Did you draw a diagram?

square

I have a statement and two questions that I hope will help you with this problem.

  1. The area of the quadrilateral CDEF is the area of the square ABCD minus the sum of the areas of the triangles ABE and FBC.

  2. What is the area of triangle ABE?

  3. What is the length of the line segment BE?

  4. What do you know about the pair of triangles ABE and FB?.

I hope this helps,
Penny
