Hi Ali, The short answer is that you don't. Since you want the length and width I assume you have a rectangle. Lets assume the area is 12 square units. Since the area of a rectangle is the length times the width you could have a length of 4 units and a width of 3 units. Or you could have a length of 6 units and a width of 2 units or a length of 12 units and a width of 1 unit. This is only with integers, you could have a length of $\large \frac{12}{5}$ units and a length of 5 units. Ay two positive numbers whose product is 12 could be the length and width. Penny |
