Question from Ali:

So, How do you find the length and the width if all you had was area?

Hi Ali,

The short answer is that you don't. Since you want the length and width I assume you have a rectangle.

Lets assume the area is 12 square units. Since the area of a rectangle is the length times the width you could have a length of 4 units and a width of 3 units. Or you could have a length of 6 units and a width of 2 units or a length of 12 units and a width of 1 unit. This is only with integers, you could have a length of $\large \frac{12}{5}$ units and a length of 5 units. Ay two positive numbers whose product is 12 could be the length and width.
