Question Jaypercey: the difference between two number is 7 find the two number if the larger 3 times the smaller |
Hi,
Suppose the larger number os $x$ and the smaller is $y.$ Since the difference is 7 you know that
\[x - y = 7.\]
You also know that the larger number is 3 times the smaller number. Write this fact as an equation in $x$ and $y.$ Solve the two equations for $x$ and $y.$
