Question from Jean:

I am a school bus driver. My route directions and time schedule have me traveling
3.1 miles in 4 minutes. How fast do "they" expect me to drive to accomplish this?
Thank You

Hi Jean,

An hour is 60 minutes and 60 divided by 4 is 15 so it takes 15, 4minute intervals to make an hour. In each of these 4 minute intervals you need to go 3.1 miles and hence in an hour you will go $15 \times 3.1 = 46.5$ miles. Hence you will need to travel at 46.5 miles per hour.

Cheers,
Penny
