Hi Ric, Suppose you have the box with the oranges in it on a scale. like a kitchen scale. The scale reads 9 pounds. Two-thirds of the oranges are eaten and what remains on the scale weighs 4 pounds. Hence the oranges that were eaten weigh 5 pounds. Thus two-thirds of the oranges weighs 5 pounds. How much does one-third of the oranges weigh? How much do all of the oranges weigh?
