Subject: Imperial measurements

Name: Judy
Level= 10 to 12

Please also give the solution to the answers. Thank you.

  1. If a room is 12 feet by 15, how many square yards are there?

  2. If a single roll of wallpaper will cover 30 square feet, how many single rolls will it take to cover a wall 8' x 15'?

  3. If ceramic tiles are 8" x 8", how many tiles would it take to cover an area 4' x 6'?
If possible, can you e-mail me a table for imperial measurements. Thank you!
Hi Judy

The most common imperial units of length are inch, foot, yard and mile. One inch is 2.54 cm, 1 foot is 12 inches, 1 yard is 12 inches and 1 mile is 1760 yards. In your problems you use ' and ", ' stands for feet and " for inches. So for problem 2. the wall is 8 feet by 15 feet or 120 square feet. Thus you need 4 single rolls of wallpaper.

Cheers,
Penny
