Would you please tell me how many litres of water in a swimming pool that is 24 feet long, 16 feet wide & 4 feet deep. I would appreciate you showing the formula for this calculation. I am a 74 year old male and I cannot find a formula in which I have any faith! I would also appreciate the answer in Imperial gallons.
Many, many thanks Bernard.

Hi Bernard

One conversion factor that I remember is that 2.54 cm = 1 inch, thus 12x2.54 cm = 1 foot. Hence 12x2.54/100 m = 0.0348 m = 1 foot. Thus 24x16x4 feet3 = 24x0.0348x16x0.0348x4x0.0348 m3 = 43.4947 m3. Since 1 m3 = 1000 liters, the pool holds 43 494.7 liters.
   My handbook has 1 imperial gallon = 0.004546087 m3 and thus 43.4947 m3 = 43.4947/0.004546087 gal = 9567.68 gal.

Cheers
Penny
