Question:
Hi. I'm a college student, majoring in Elementary Education. This semester I am taking a math class for elementary school teachers.

I'm not sure if you can help out, but here is what I need. For the class, I am supposed to make 10 work jobs for students. Simple things that teach math that students can work on individually, for example after finishing a test.

If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I must have 10 of them in by May 6th.

Thanks for you time.

Cindy

Hi Cindy

I can show you where to find some resources that may help you come up with the 10 work jobs that you need. One is a collection of manipulative activities created by Craig Loewen, a faculty member at Lethbridge University in Lethbridge, Alberta. You can find them by going to the Resource Room search page at Math Central and searching in the keyword field for manipulative. The second source is a collection of activities used by a teacher, Debbie Penner. Debbie teaches at the middle school level but nevertheless you may find some usable ideas here. These are activities designed to be used by a single student or with small groups. Again go to the Resource Room search page at Math Central but this time search in the Author field for Debbie Penner.

Good Luck
Penny
