Question:
If 3/4 more students went to the game than actually did go to the game, 25% of all students in the entire school would have gone. What fraction of students in the entire school went to the game?

Hi Lisa

Suppose that the number of students in the entire school is S and the number of students who went to the game is G. What you are asked to find is the fraction G/S. What you are given is that "If 3/4 more students went to the game than actually did go to the game, 25% of all students in the entire school would have gone."
   The number of students who went to the game is G so increasing this by 3/4 G gives G + 3/4 G. The fact you are given is then G + 3/4 G  is 25% of S, ie. G + 3/4 G  = 1/4 S. Now solve for G/S.

Harley
