Ashley Day-Student 6th grade
number patterns

8,27,64
I need the next three numbers & I can't figure it out. I have worked on this all day.

Hi Ashley,

There is no one way to approach these problems. I am sure that you have tried a number of ways to find relationships between the terms.

Another technique is to factor the individual terms and then look for patterns. In this example the first term is 8 and

  • 8 = 1 x 8

  • 8 = 2 x 4

  • 8 = 2 x 2 x 2

Factor 27 and 64 and see if you can detect a pattern.

Cheers,
Penny
