Subject: help with 50:1

How fast math can slip from our minds when most needed!

My hubby is ready to use his snow blower and is supposed to use 50:1 measurement....50 parts gas to 1 part oil......how does he do this if he has 1 gallon of gas? How much oil do we use...need info asap.....hopefully you are there!

karen

Hi Karen,

1 gallon is 4 quarts and 1 quart is 2 pints, so 1 gallon is 8 pints. 1 pint is 16 ounces so 1 gallon is 8x16 = 128 ounces. Thus one fiftieth on a gallon is 128/50 ounces which is approximately 2.5 ounces.

Cheers,
Harley
