Question: What are Fractals? I am doing a research project. Any information would be great. I need to know the history behind fractals, and how they are used. I would like some examples like the snowflake and a fractal tree. Any other examples would be appriciated greatly. Thank you.

I went to an Internet search site and searched for the pair of words fractal and snowflake and then again using the pair of words fractal and tree. The first two sites I found were Koch's Snowflake Fractal and Java Fractal Tree. This is a reat way to find information.

Also if you go to the Quandaries and Queries section of Math Central and search in the keywork field for the word fractal you will find another question we received on fractals and a reply by Chris.
