Ok I feel like a goof because I know this and I cant think of an answer But I want to isolate the x in the function y=2^x how do I do this? Thanx

Hi Justin,

The clue is in the subject line to the message you sent. One of the properties of the log functions is that

log(ab) = b log(a)

Thus if

y = 2x

then

log(y) = log(2x) = x log(2)

and thus

x = log(y)/log(2)

Cheers,
Harley
