Materials needed:

• Tangram pieces, all 7, - few sets
  
  
• Book on Tangram shapes
  
  
• Math Journal
  
  

Get into pairs or a group of four.

• Take all the tangram pieces and arrange them into one big square.
  
  
• Create a shape sentence to name all the shapes used to make the square. Example: one square + one triangle
  
  
• Create pictures like animals, objects, etc. using all 7 shapes
  
  
• Look at the examples provided.
  
  
• Once you make a picture trace around the outside of it to save the picture.
  
  
• Make a few pictures and then give them to your partner or group to solve the picture by filling in the picture with the 7 shapes.
  
  
• Pictures of shapes are put into portfolios.
  
  
• You now write a "I learned É" sentence to tell me something you learned in this activity.
