What is the formula for figuring the square footage of an odd shaped piece of property?

Hi Barry,

If the sides of the property are straight lines then you can divide it into triangles and add the areas of the triangles. There is a note about this procedure in the answer to a previous question.

If the sides are not straight lines then it is a significantly harder problem and you may need to approximate the area.
