Question from adam, a student:

I need to find the area of a regular octagon with side length of 12.5m how do I do this I am in year 10 and doing GCSE coursework PLEASE HELP!

Hi Adam,

A few months ago Sue answered another question about the area of a regular octagon. The question had the area given and wanted to know the side length. Sue's answer however develops the relationship between the area and the side length in general by cutting the octagon into a square, four rectangles and four triangles. You can use her solution to to answer your question.
