Question from Carolyn, a student:

I have a line segment AB. I need to divide a segment into 3 parts that are congruent. Please help how to divide it. The answer that I was given previous was not the way the teacher wanted it.

I also need information on how to find the center of a circle given an arc.

Hi Carolyn,

The response I gave to your last question contains enough information to allow you to develop a technique to divide a line segment into three congruent parts.

For your second question take two points A and B on the arc and draw the chord AB. Construct the right bisector of the line segment AB. The centre of the circle must be on this line. Do you see why? Can you see how to find the centre of the circle?
