Question from Fitore, a student:

Hi, I noticed that this question was already posted up, however I was hoping I could solve it without having to use logs. Can you please help me? The equation is:
541.39(1 + i)^15 = 784.09

Fitore,

I used logs to solve this problem since I think it is the easiest way to approach it. You could expand (1 + i)15 using the binomial theorem, then write 541.39(1 + i)15 = 784.09 as a polynomial equation of degree 15. At this point you could approximate a solution, perhaps using Newton's Method.
