Question from kamer, a student:

given the radius 1.696 also the cord length 1.958 find the height between the cord and the arch.

Kamer,

I answered a very similar question from Grant yesterday. The solution to both problems relies on Pythagoras' theorem. Using the notation in my response to Grant you have |CA| = 1.696 units and |AD| = 1.958/2 = 0.979 units. Use Pythagoras' theorem to calculate |DC| and then |BD| = 1.696 - |DC| units.
