Question from Lynn, a parent:

How much sand is needed to fill a 20 ft. wide octagon area 6 inches deep?

Hi Lynn,

The volume of sand you need is the area of the octagon in square feet times the depth in feet. The depth you have is $\large \frac{6}{12} \normalsize = \large \frac{1}{2}$ feet.

You can find the area of the octagon using the method in my response to an earlier question.

Write back if you need more assistance,
Penny
