Question from Peter:

I have seen your response to a similar question from Steve which Chris and Harley responded to, however I am not familiar with some of the terms. Is there a formula that I can enter my details in which will give me the specific angles I require. The item I am constructing is much larger than the one you responded to previously. Thank you for any assistance you are able to provide.

Hi Peter,

Yes there is a tool you can use. It's the Compound Angle Calculator at http://jansson.us/jcompound.html. For the question you mentioned which was answered by Chris and Harley I use the N-Sided Pyramid tool on the Compound Angle Calculator page with the number of sides equal to 6, the base radius of 13 inches and the height of 5.2 inches the Compound Angle Calculator gave a bevel angle of 12.1 degrees. Notice that in our solution we reported the complement, 77.9 = 90 - 12.1.
