Hi! My name is Ellen. I'm a seventh grade student and I'm doing a prodject on tessellation. My question is: why will certain shapes (not polygons) tessellate? Thanks for your help!

Hi Ellen,

In the Resource Room at Math Central there is a resource called "Tantalizing Tessellations!!" that has some examples that show how to build tessellations that are not polygons. If you go to the Resourse Room and search in the keyword field for tessellation you will find this resource. Its URL is MathCentral.uregina.ca/RR/database/RR.09.96/archamb1.html.

The examples are near the end of the document.

Cheers,
Penny
