Building an octagon-shaped deck 2006-07-11

I'm a landscaper and one of my customers wants me to build her an octagon shaped deck in the back yard that has a measurement of 16 by 16. I'm not sure of the way to measure for materials required. It will be built with 2 by 6 lumber with a half inch spacing between the 2 by 6.
