This was in reference to a discussion about the lottery. I said there was only 10,000 possible combinations. My friend said that there was many times more, but he could not remember how to figure it out. The answer and the formula would be greatly appreciated. Answered by Penny Nom. |

From Katie: Okay.......here's my question...how many different ways can you form a four digit number out of these digits..1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8? This is how my teacher said to do this.... 8*8, 7*7,6*6,5*5,4*4,3*3,2*2,1*1. then she said to add up the products and to multiply by 7. is this correct, and if not how can you figure this out.
